The INSTED was established in year of 2007 under the able leadership of Prof.Jayakar Thomas who is also the current president.

This unique society was started with lot of passion, insight and dedication, which has multiplied manifold and continues till date.

It is estimated that India is the cradle of e-health in Asia. That certainly gives us the edge to form the INSTED and enhance skin heath globally, to make Teledermatology help in the following three ways:

1.To the patient, it is almost a home-delivery of health care

2. To the referring doctor, it is empowerment of his service

3.To the organization, it is efficiency-improvement.

We conduct our annual national conference ‘TELEDERM’ which is successfully in its 11th year now. The prestigious Prof.A.S.Thambiah oration is a unique feature and is awarded to an eminent medical professional of excellence. Yearly celebration of World Psoriasis Day is held by conducting CME , case-based discussions and patient interactive session. The international dermatology update and observing the World Skin Health Day are prominent activities by our society.

With changing health requirements, technology and infrastructure , teledermatology has rapidly grown. This progressive subspeciality of dermatology has taken a larger role in healthcare especially in the recent past. Dermatology being a visual branch has more potential to take this field further and utilize it to the maximum potential for providing consultations in urban areas, services to the specialist deprived areas and to carry out medical education.

Teledermatology is definitely the future of dermatology worldwide and as a we are committed to it forward.
